Engineered and co-produced by Jimmy Dufour at Radiobeat. Original (300 made) with regular cover, lyrics printed on the back. Reissue (500 made) in gatefold sleeve, includes liner notes by singer Bill Bile. A large part of the first press was allegedly thrown to the audience at shows, put under windshield wipers, thrown off a bridge (!) etc. The most common copies in circulation seem to be the few dozen unplayed stock copies that were sold via Ebay by a band member around 2001.

Endless speculations surrounded this album in the 80s and 90s: That it was a secret nazi punk project by Boston hardcore stars, that nobody wanted to talk about it anymore etc… Now that copies resurface on Ebay frequently and it has been reissued (in 2004), the truth looks much less scandalous. This is just an obscure album by an obscure (and back then, much-hated) Boston band. The music is OK, very simple early 80’s hardcore, quite generic but fast and powerful - but there aren’t even traces of the Boston/XClaim hardcore sound. The lyrics are stupid, annoying, sexist and homophobic, but hardly the hardline nazi messages some people thought them to be. This is definitely not a lost Boston classic, rather a hardcore footnote. Was rankten sich nicht für Legenden um diese Platte; ein geheimes Nazi-Punk-Projekt einiger Xclaim-Leute sollte das sein, das von der Szene totgeschwiegen wurde… Nach dem Auftauchen einiger Copies auf ebay und der Reissue klärt sich das Bild, und es sieht alles weit weniger skandalös aus. Vile waren nur eine obskure Boston-Band, die sehr einfachen unspektakulären HC spielten und in der Szene nicht sonderlich gut gelitten waren (der Legende zufolge klemmten sie zahlreiche ihrer LPs bei Konzerten anderer Bands unter die Scheibenwischer der Autos der Besucher, weil keiner sie kaufen wollte). Die Musik ist schnell und einfach, klingt wie viele andere Früh-80er-Bands, hat aber kaum etwas mit dem Boston/Xclaim-Sound zu tun. Die Texte sind dumm, lächerlich, sexistisch und schwulenfeindlich, aber es gibt da weitaus Schlimmeres. Fazit: Für Komplettisten und Boston-Fanatiker, die alles haben müssen.
