RI (CD-R): ?.? / 22 tracks / 2004 (??) (bootleg)
One of hardcore’s greatest tragedies was that DC’s Void never got their own EP or LP in the early 80’s - it would certainly be up there with the all-time classics now. Well, the split LP has to do, and we get some rereleases and bootlegs bit by bit. I am even willing to change my policy of not reviewing tapes here, although this was only a demo and didn’t even get a proper CD rerelease (a legal reissue is allegedly being blocked by one band member; CD-Rs have been sold on Ebay, and MP3s of the tracks are available at various place on the web, but the sound quality is not very good). This demo predates the split LP and Flex Your Head recordings, and the songs are a bit simpler and less manic. Still, for 1981 the speed, hate and aggression of the music is amazing, and at this early point in hardcore history they probably blew away most or all other bands. A hardcore milestone. [8]
