Allegedly this was the first White Flag LP; the band claims there was a pressing of 300 copies most of which were destroyed, but even though the songs have been “reissued” on CD an original LP version was never released - there was only a cassette. Concerning the title, the American sci fi author Ray Bradbury wrote two books with short stories named R Is For Rocket and S Is For Space, so White Flag just made a joke using those two names. Anyway, the CD includes the nine tracks from their first recording, plus six studio outtakes from the same session and nine live tracks from their first show in June 1982. Everything still sounds very noisy and basic here, and the versions that later ended up on S is for Space are a lot better; these songs sound like hissy practice room recordings rather than studio takes. Still, you can tell that this is a band that won't end up play generic three-chord hardcore, and it's interesting to see the birth of the witty and diverse White Flag style. [6]

Ein Witz im echten White-Flag-Style - ein CD-Reissue einer LP, die nie existierte. Die Band behauptet, 300 Stück seien vom Original gepresst, der Großteil aber wieder vernichtet worden; es gab aber nur eine Cassette mit den ersten 9 Songs dieser CD. Immerhin gibt es jetzt eine CD mit den Aufnahmen, die man sich wie eine sehr viel einfachere, krachigere und dilettantischere Version der S Is For Space LP vorzustellen hat, im charmant-rauschigen Proberaum-Sound. Für Fans und Archäologen interessant.
