Hardly any punk influences anymore, but not mere rock music either, a lot of the typical X feeling is still there. At this point, they were stuck in the middle between the punk scene that demanded back the rougher X sound and a mainstream audience that couldn't understand their weird edge. Good rock music with occasional punk influences, but the production is too slick. [7]

Die bisher kommerziellste Platte der Kultband aus LA, ohne Zweifel; v.a. wegen der sehr glatten und klaren Produktion hat das nur noch sehr, sehr entfernt mit Punk zu tun. Andererseits gibt es immer noch den typischen, schwer beschreibbaren X-Sound, hin und wieder versuchen sich John & Exene sogar noch am schön-schrägen Duettgesang. Kein Punk, aber mit Sicherheit sehr gute Rockmusik mit leicht angepunkter Gitarre.
